Q. Who is Family Tree Originals?
A. Family Tree Originals is an importer of fine authentic personalized commemorative Delft plates and tiles that are sold directly through Family Tree Originals. Family Tree Originals is a registered trademark that owns all of the exclusive rights for its designs and manufacturing. Our products and designs cannot be copied, reproduced, or manufactured without our written permission or authorization.

Q. What products do you offer?
A. We offer Delft personalized Birth Plates in standard Delft blue and the multicolored Birth Plate. Also available is a 5 ¾" square Delft blue or multicolored birth tile. We also offer a Delft personalized Wedding or Anniversary plate which only comes in Delft blue. 

Q. Where are the plates manufactured and are they genuine Delftware?
A. All plates and tiles are genuine Delftware and completely manufactured and personalized by Dutch artists by hand from an old and respected manufacture in Schoonhoven, Holland.

Q. Can I order a Birth Plate / Tile for an older child or an adult?
A. Yes! You are never too old to receive a Delft Birth Plate or tile.

Q: What does Express Shipping mean?

A. Express Shipping means your order is prioritized in our artist’s production queue and shipped using expedited delivery once completed.

Because each plate is individually hand-painted and kiln-fired by our artist, express shipping does not skip the handcrafted production process. Instead, it ensures your order is moved ahead in the painting queue and shipped using faster delivery service once it is finished.

Express Shipping helps reduce overall delivery time, but production time for hand-painted items still applies.

Q. How are your products shipped and where can I have them shipped to?
A. Our plates and tiles are carefully packaged to prevent damage and shipped via standard mail.

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout.

• United States: A flat $20 shipping fee is applied to all U.S. orders. Domestic shipments are sent via UPS and include a tracking number so you can follow your package every step of the way.

• International Orders: Orders shipping outside the United States are charged a $20 shipping and handling fee per item.

If the item is a gift, it can be shipped directly to the recipient.

🌍 International Orders:
Customers outside the United States may be responsible for any customs duties, VAT, or import taxes required by their destination country. These charges are determined by the local customs authority and are the responsibility of the recipient.

Important Notice for U.S. Customers:
Effective November 1, 2025, we are required to charge a flat $20 shipping fee on all U.S. orders. As a small family-run business serving customers since 1980, we sincerely appreciate your understanding. This adjustment reflects new international shipping regulations and increased duties, taxes, and handling costs associated with importing handcrafted items into the United States.

Q. How long will it take to receive my plate/tile?
A. Approximately 8 weeks from the time your order is received by our company.

Q. How long does it take to receive a gift certificate?
A. We only have gift certificates for our Birth Plates. The gift certificates are mailed within 2 days after we receive your order, they should arrive in about 5-10 days. Please allow more time if shipping outside of the United States. Gift Certificates can also be sent by express mail with an additional charge, upon request.

Q. What if I receive a plate or tile and there is a mistake or it is damaged?
A. If the painter in Holland makes a mistake on the plate/tile or if it arrives damaged, it will be replaced at no cost. If the customer makes a mistake on the order form, the plate will need to be reordered and the customer will have to pay to have a new plate manufactured. All plates are personalized on the raw bisque and then glazed and fired that cannot be changed.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. Required by law you have 3 days to cancel an order. Once your order has been sent to Holland there are NO REFUNDS.

A. Orders are processed and sent to our artist the next business day after your order is placed. Each plate is individually hand-painted and kiln-fired, a traditional process that takes time to complete with care. Because of this handcrafted process, most orders are completed and delivered within 4 to 6 weeks from the date of order. If you selected Express Shipping, your order will be prioritized in the artist’s production queue and shipped using expedited delivery once completed.
